Tools I use for my daily business...

As a front-end (web) developer I use some tools to get the job done...
I build web applications with HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript.
For this I mainly use JS frameworks/libraries like Angular or React, together with TypeScript.
When writing styles for web apps, I use CSS preprocessors like SASS, and sometimes also LESS, or libraries like Bootstrap or Tailwind CSS, but always with responsiveness in mind.
I'm highly interested in Design Systems and use the Atomic Design methodology to build custom reusable UI components or use UI component libraries like Angular Material, Carbon Design System, NG Bootstrap, ... To bring the Atomic Design methodology to life in web projects I use Storybook for UI development, testing and documentation.
This site is built with the React Framework Next.js (+ Tailwind CSS, Font Awesome).
My editor of choise is Visual Studio Code (VS Code), an open source AI code editor, coming with lots of built-in features like source control, debugging, or the support of hundreds of programming languages, but its true magic comes from its almost infinite expandability - they help me to write better, even beautiful code, and to find + avoid errors before they become real problems. A small excerpt of the extensions I use every day:
  • ESLint - a code analyzer to find and fix JS problems
  • Prettier - a code formatter
  • Stylelint - a CSS linter to help avoiding errors & enforcing conventions
  • GitLens - supercharge Git within VS Code
  • GitHub Copilot - an AI peer programming tool that helps to write code faster and smarter
  • and some more ...
For version control I use Git-based systems like GitHub, Gitlab and Atlassian BitBucket together with tools like Atlassian Sourcetree , GitHub Desktop or GitKraken.
When it comes to designing & prototyping a website, there is no way around Figma, especially with its Dev Mode or its Figma for VS Code extension you can easily get a link between design & code.
Personally, I organize all my thoughts & ideas in notes with Evernote, both private as business. And with the iOS app I always have them at hand, no matter when I need them to write down a good idea, or to make it even better.
Sometimes, when it comes to more technical ToDo's, or collaborating with others in a project, I also use Trello.
To bring all these items together I use an Apple Macbook Pro. It allows me to work anywhere I want or need to. Remotely at home, I use it together with an external Lenovo ThinkVision L2321x 23-inch widescreen monitor plus Apple's Magic Keyboard & Magic Mouse for a little bit more comfort.
In combination with an iPhone 15 Pro , an iPad Pro and some AirPods Pro, this setup lets me being productive, creative, curios, ..., no matter when, where or how ...
